michael roth, director of business development

 Mr. Roth brings business acumen and direct experience in developing and implementing growth opportunities in vertical markets on behalf of NuSpot Technologies. Regular duties include exploring the brokerage of intellectual property with industry leaders and exploring the unrealized value of existing intellectual property by identifying new operating domains and market applications. Mr. Roth led the commercial and industrial development team for NuSpot Technologies during the DARPA SBIR Phase I (Award 140D6318C0009) for the development of free standing super-resolving phase filters. Further, Mr. Roth’s work is focused both externally and internally. Externally, he is tasked with leading the initiation and direct, continued engagement of multiple industry leaders and potential customers. During the Phase I effort, Mr. Roth led discussions and engagements with leading industry firms. Internally, he is tasked with handling various operational challenges including but not limited to developing strategy, taxation, contracting, NDAs and miscellaneous negotiations.

He was selected by the National Science Foundation iCorps program in 2016 to assist high-tech startups in developing business strategies, assessing technology transfer paths, and validating market opportunities. Michael has an undergraduate degree in business management and political science from UNC Charlotte. He is currently pursuing his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
